We are super excited to have our third Indonesia offering on tap! Coffee from Sumatra is typically associated with dark, smoky, earthy flavours due to the unique 'wet-hulled' processing. In recent years new processing techniques have started to gain in popularity, farmers are now able to earn more for higher quality coffees. This coffee was grown in the North of the Island of Sumatra, high in the mountains in volcanic loam. Shaded by avacoado & Albasia (a rapid growing bamboo, used in construction and furniture), the green beans have a beautiful deep blue/green hue when ripe, and where usually a wet hulled process ( a variant of washed process that creates the signature 'mustiness' of Sumatran coffee) these beans are natural processed. Bringing together the syrupy body of a typical Sumatran with the fruit forward vibrancy of a natural. This is one great cup of coffee! Just as happy on a Chemex or V60 as it is poured as a complex single origin espresso. In the cup you will detect Dutch chocolate, sweet, smoked spice, syrupy body, and subtle fruit vibrancy. this is a very unique coffee.
For our matching Strava segment, we picked Danau Laut Tawar Loop - Circling Danua Laut lake, this unassuming 44.76km @ -0.1% elevation gain ride is not to be taken lightly! With the majority of the ride at elevations of 1200m and higher, there is nary a flat segment in sight, constant pitches, some at 18%+ and net gain of 700m will have you gasping in no time. The KOM is currently held by Muvie Racing at 1:34:01 avg 28.5km/h.
