This is our second offering from Zambia's Kateshi Estate - one of the oldest coffee growing estates in the Country. This coffee comes from Kasama in the Northern Province, nestled up against Tanzania. Kateshi Estates was first formed in 1974 with the goal of promoting the Zambian coffee industry. Today the estate has focused on improving the lives of the farmers by providing housing, medical services and an 800 student on site school. Kateshi has also been focused on gender equality and has made great strides in assisting and promoting women farmers.
Our current Zambia offering is classed as Mbuni A, or Natural Gold - the ripe cherries are picked twice and hand sorted, then dried in the sun on raised beds. You may remember this coffee from a few years back when we offered it as 'Summit' - this years crop is almost as spectacular! This is a big cup! full bodied and complex - we have been enjoying it as both a rich pour-over and a spicy espresso!
The Mafinga Hills in Zambia’s Northern Province are home to the country’s highest peaks, where altitude and ancient volcanic soils help produce this RFA certified coffee. It's a natural process that brings out the very distinctive tropical fruit flavours in the cup.
